OUR PURPOSE:
The aim of our Social Health Research Unit is to generate health knowledge from a social science perspective, thereby enhancing institutional research capacity through a multidisciplinary and comprehensive understanding of health.
RESEARCH AREAS:
We enhance the Social Appropriation of Knowledge processes through Implementation Research and Participatory Action Research, contributing to the betterment of health in vulnerable communities.
Projects:
- Community Surveillance Model (TMRC-1)
- Cultural adaptation of health interventions for preventing and controlling infectious diseases (leishmaniasis, malaria, tuberculosis) among dispersed rural populations (indigenous, Afro, and mestizo) in the municipality of Pueblo Rico, Risaralda.
- Intersection of gender with other social determinants in preventing and controlling infectious diseases in indigenous and Afro communities in Pueblo Rico, Colombia.
We conduct qualitative research across ongoing institutional projects to bolster multidisciplinary research at CIDEIM.
