RESEARCH PROMOTION AND DEVELOPMENT UNIT (UPDI)
Our unit’s purpose is to promote an efficient and effective research environment through training and capacity building, in accordance with international ethical standards. Additionally, the UPDI promotes intersectoral and interinstitutional relationships and collaboration. It also provides support in project administration, identifying opportunities, and ensuring compliance with the requirements and guidelines for submitting proposals to organizations that fund scientific research and global health.

Training for professionals interested in pursuing a career as researchers. There are opportunities for students, thesis writers, interns, fellows, and healthcare professionals in mandatory social service.
Strengthening Research Capacities
We manage projects and programs that strengthen research capacities in Colombia and the region.
Since 2003, CIDEIM has partnered with Yale University to implement the Global Infectious Diseases Program (GID) program, which is sponsored by the Fogarty International Center of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). “Integration of Translational and Implementation Research Training on Leishmaniasis and other Vector-borne and Emerging Infectious Diseases”.
Since 2010, CIDEIM has been selected by the Special Program for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) as the Regional Training Center and Network for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC-RTC). Currently, LAC-RTC offers training opportunities in implementation research and related areas.
Since 2017, CIDEIM has been selected as the Social Innovation in Health Hub for Latin America and the Caribbean (SIHI LAC Hub) to promote social innovation as an alternative response to health problems, and since 2019, it has been the regional node of TDR Global for the Americas to support the dissemination of training, research, and collaboration opportunities for the TDR Global scientific community.

We support the design, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of courses. We are at the forefront of educational opportunities using information and communication technologies.
