Career Development

CIDEIM offers opportunities for young professionals interested in pursuing a career in health research.

At CIDEIM, training researchers is an integral part of scientific and technological activity. Research projects serve as tools for training new researchers, who conduct their training work within the scope of the research areas and diseases being studied. Notably, international cooperation on these projects allows students to broaden their perspectives by exposing them to different schools of thought.

CIDEIM welcomes undergraduate interns, as well as doctoral and master's students from national and international universities, to conduct thesis research or complete internships.

Additionally, we have partnered with Young Researchers, a program supported by the Colombian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation. Our goal is to train recent graduates and professionals with limited work experience who are interested in pursuing a career in scientific research. We provide them with the necessary environment and tools to venture into biomedical research by participating in projects across different subject areas.

Young researchers interact with their mentors and other scientists at CIDEIM and its collaborators. This experience will help them define their professional orientation and position them to begin postgraduate studies advantageously.

At CIDEIM, we have offered professional development opportunities to doctors and bacteriologists in the Compulsory Social Service (SSO). These professionals have joined various research projects, acquiring knowledge, skills, and experience.

These opportunities are intended to introduce professionals to the design, conduct, analysis, and reporting of research project results, as well as provide training and education related to research ethics, protection of human subjects in research, and good clinical practices.

Similarly, professionals in Compulsory Social Service have been provided with training by CIDEIM to ensure that specialized diagnostic procedures are performed optimally. These procedures are routinely carried out in different subject areas, with an emphasis on the theoretical basis of the procedures, Good Laboratory Practices, and biosafety standards.

The two-year Clinical Research Fellowship program offers newly graduated physicians the opportunity to begin training in health research, strengthening their analytical and epidemiological skills in preparation for careers in academic medicine or clinical research.

During the program, physicians can learn about and develop expertise in various areas of research, including international opportunities for courses and internships. Fellows will also receive career development mentoring and ongoing support from a multidisciplinary team of researchers. They will have the opportunity to design and carry out a research project during the program. CIDEIM Fellows are known for their success in clinical specialization and postgraduate training.
