Virtual Postgraduate Courses in Biomedical Sciences

Since 2007, we have offered virtual postgraduate courses as part of the Fogarty International Center’s Global Infectious Disease Research Training (GID) project, in collaboration with the Yale School of Public Health.

GID is a research training program that addresses the training needs of individuals working on infectious diseases that are endemic or impact people living in developing countries. Projects funded by GID provide a variety of training options tailored to host country institutions’ needs.

These courses, which focus on advanced topics related to biomedical research, are offered once a year. To date, CIDEIM and Yale University have conducted sixteen inter-institutional postgraduate courses in Colombia on topics such as: Molecular Immunology, Vector Biology, Omics Sciences and Their Application in Biomedical Research, and Pathobiology of Intracellular Infections, among others.

These activities aim to strengthen the capabilities of early-career researchers. They address topics related to the needs of the country and the Latin American region to better implement the results in practice. The courses are registered as electives at universities, so students earn credits for participating.

CIDEIM and the participating universities comprise the National Network for Strengthening Graduate Programs in Biomedical and Health Sciences.
