“CIDEIM has promoted good research practice in health research at national and international level. By responding to national health research priorities identified by COLCIENCIAS, CIDEIM demonstrated also that an institution in the developing world could influence national research agenda. The strong link between government (COLCIENCIAS) and CIDEIM could be seen of a phase of proof of principle of how to partner with the government.

What I most remember about my experience at CIDEIM is the professionalism and kindness of the staff, even for the young students the extraordinary high national and international collaboration either in training or in research. The successful model used by this institution to implement in its own institution, in national and international universities, some training such as the Effective Project Planning and Evaluation Training trough targeting institutions has been taken as a model for developing the other training courses in WHO/TDR: CIDEIM is now coordinator of a worldwide network on this topic. The strength of CIDEIM is that they combine research and training in relation with research in the same institution. In addition, all aspects of the CIDEIM activities-training and research – are multidisciplinary, which is quite unique”.

“In the future I would like to see CIDEIM continuing its development as an internationally recognized institution, critical to respond to national and regional health research issues”.
